Good news/ bad news
Posted on November 26, 2006 @ 1:41 pm

So the good news is, I am up and running again thanks to Stu. We switched to another Web hosting company and this time when I did the import from blogger- all the old entries came over which is great because they didn’t before.

The bad news is, everything from the point that I switched from blogger is gone. Gone. Gone.

Six months. . . Gone.

When we first got the hint that the old hosting company was evil (they took away my c-panel. Didn’t give me any alternative to edit the template) Stu backed up the blog. At least he thought he did. . . What he has isn’t what I need.

So oh well.

It’s just a blog.

Stu has been a saint. He’s worked all day to sort me out.

So. . . I’m picking myself up. Dusting myself off. And starting all over again.

Damn, I’m sorry Nicole. =(

It *is* just a blog, but a blog that chronicles your life and opinions. It is normal to be upset about it. Yay for lovely hubbies named Stu!

Thomas Says:

Thanks Mel!

Have some more good news- He was able to pull a good bit of it so I can go back and add the few posts that I think are important.

I will keep him. He worked a ridiculous number of hours sorting it all for me.

Ruh-roh. That really sucks.

You could get the text of your posts back by looking at cached versions of search engine results for your site.

Thomas Says:

Thanks Colm- Yeah I looked and I found some. . . What Stu found is good- I just need to rebuild it and remember aprox dates

Laura Says:

Sorry to hear about the lost posts - but welcome back!

Oh, you poor sausage! I would be devastated. It’s like losing your diary.

Do you have the Database Backup Plugin? http://www.skippy.net/blog/plugins. It makes backing up really easy, so I use it every month or so. Not much help now, I know.

So sorry!

Thomas Says:

Thanks jen! i’ll check that one out. I do have a bit of a backup so all is not lost, I’m slowly adding it back. . .

Yeah, it sucks ass.
