Update on my paw for my mother and anyone else who cares
Posted on February 24, 2007 @ 7:33 am

It feels much better this morning. Really. I’m ok. If it had still been as bad this AM, I would have gone to A&E (Emergency Room) but it is mucho better. I’m still keeping off it all weekend.

So relax ma. Your klutz child is okay.

Bad news of it being better is I can’t get crutches to beat co-workers with. (Sorry Colm.)

Eeek. The trickiness of ankles! Glad you’re on the mend! Does this mean you can continue with Lindy hopping?

Dianne Says:

Glad to hear your ankle is doing better today, Nicole. Though I DO think you’d look absolutely fetching on crutches…and think of the fun of tormenting co-workers. Just a tiny tip of the crutches left jutting into the aisle for tripping, a little “goose” at the water cooler…hmmm. Maybe better investigate this idea a bit!

Hi, I have been following your adventures for a little while now. I am glad to hear you are doing better. I saw your mom’s comment, asking Stu if you were really ok. My mom does that too. If I have a cold or a fall or something, she asks my boyfriend and/or friends to get the real scoop. LOL!

Thomas Says:

Thanks everyone- and howdy chicago seeker!

Yeah. . . I think I should not do the Lindy hop for a few weeks. I’m just happy that I can move without looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Stuart Says:

Whilst I am very sympathetic person.. We live in a 1st floor flat an she asked the nurse in A&E for a wheel chair. A> where the fxxx do we store it. B> See the bit about the 1st floor appartment.. I’m buggered if I’m wheeling her sprained ankled ass upstairs.

C> Nobody needs that amount of pills potions and codine for a bad ankle.. Most people would just chill out with a rizla full of Brixtons finest!

Thomas Says:

LOL

It’s a good thing that everyone after a few moments of talking to Stuart (or reads his comments) knows he has a healthy appreciation of The Theatre of the Ridiculous. . .

Vol Abroad Says:

Oh no!

But at least you got drugs. When I tore a ligament running for the Jubilee line, I was taken by ambulance to Northwick Park which usually appears in headlines beginning with “Troubled Northwick Park…”

They just turfed me out when they hit the 4hr target waiting time. No crutch, no pain pills, no nada. Long slow recovery process.

And - oh yeah - we lived in a first floor flat then as well.

Amity Says:

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your ankle but glad you’re on the mend. Get well!

jen Says:

Oh Nicole!

Sorry about your ankle! London is not a very friendly city for the mobility-impaired. And sorry about your dance classes. That really sux. I know you were really excited about them.

Any chance of re-booking for the next round of classes?

Thomas Says:

Thanks jen- It really is ok now. It is really odd how bad it was Friday afternoon/evening to Saturday. I feel a slight twinge now compared to I could barely bear to put any weight on it then.

I suspect that I am a big baby.

Yes, she has already signed me up for the next round of classes!

LT Says:

What is it with ankles and London? I know several americans (myself included) who’ve injured ankles in London while on holiday. After that comment made by Stuart about your ’sprained ankle ass’, I’m beginning to wonder if he pushed you?

Thomas Says:

LT- LOL!

No he didn’t. He wrote that after he got annoyed with me for taking a paracetamol & codeine pill before I went to bed last night. He’s anti meds and me being American will happily pop pills all day. . .

Teasing is his favourite pastime- We didn’t go to a&e and I certainly didn’t ask for a wheelchair and there is no way he would be strong enough to lug me up stairs in one. . .

Lil Says:

Are you sure you’re not married to Tom Cruise?

I’m sure a few vitamins will fix that ankle right up!

Ma Barker Says:

Stu is a love. ButI have no idea when he is kidding or serious. However when it comes to my baby girl I do get a bit riled! If it hurts take a damn pill. Especially if you can get them over the counter. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Lil Says:

What a good Mom you are!

Thomas Says:

:)

Indeed!
