For the Indefinite Right To Remain- what I will be applying for in November, the fee has gone from £335 to £750. . . and that’s the one where you mail your passport in and they will probably lose it. If you do the premium service instead of £500 they are proposing £950.

And the terrible thing is they are proposing that these fees start April 1. At least I have some time to save if it goes through. (Might not be coming to see you in July Mom.)
What really bothers me is it seems like they are trying to price out everyone other than a certain class of people that can afford these fees. It smacks of racism to me.
I am also rather pissed to have to pay 450 more than I expected when I was already stressing the 500.

Yup - that’s why I’m doing the two-week mad dash to try to get my citizenship application in before the 1st.
It’s totally unfair (considering most fairly new immigrants often don’t make a whole lot) and classist, and won’t help solve illegal immigration, and *might* even cause more people to overstay ro become illegal because they can’t afford the ludicrous fees.
On top of which, they’re punishing the people that are *already* here legally, already jumping through all the hoops.
