Hugh’s Chicken Run

Just Watched tonoght’s episode of Hugh’s Chicken RunHugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is an English celebrity chef and Chicken Run shows the difference between how standard and free range birds are raised. After watching this program, I am never, ever, ever EVER buying a regular chicken. Free range all the way now on. If you make the decision to be a carnivore, you have the responsibility to not eat animals that were tortured to your fork.

this is why we haven’t bought any meat that wasn’t free range in the past two years.

i have no problem with humans being at the top of the food chain, but i don’t think that entitles us to subject animals to lives of incomprehensible misery.

Yep, it’s mainly why I’m transitioning to vegan (would be vegetarian bc I ADORE cheese and ice cream but turns out I’m allergic to both eggs AND dairy..hmmph.)

Happy 2008 to you!

happy 2008 Lola!

I wish I could do the veggie thing. I love vegetables. Love soy. I also adore steak. . .

Jen- do you shop anywhere special for meat?

jen Says:

no, i don’t shop anywhere in particular, just the regular grocery store. but because free range is not cheap, we basically don’t buy a lot of meat now anyway - which is probably healthier. so if i want a steak, i just have to think about whether i want it enough to pay £5 for it!
