London Marathon

Mel ran the London marathon Sunday (read a funny entry about the effects of it on his body here) and it has got me thinking. . .

I have wanted to walk one since 1999, (ain’t no way I’m running with my breasts. I’d poke my eye out.) but I have always made excuses about finding the time to train.

Mel was sweet and said that if he could do it, anyone can– which I don’t believe. It takes months of commitment and not everyone has that in them.

Anyway, I really want to do it. Nearly ten years of saying I wanna and I need to make it a I am.

So I am trying to get a place on my own because the charity I would want to run for was not awarded any running slots.

Annoying.

Might have to go for the one in LA.

How about if we all chip in and get you an industrial sized sports bra?

Didn’t a 101 yr old man just run the marathon? (I’m not certain if he finished - who knows, he might still be running…)

Will your charity of choice be Coitus?

jen Says:

step one to doing a marathon: sign up

step two: tell everyone you know you’re doing it so you don’t drop out! :)

(for the record, you can totally run a marathon. if friggin OPRAH can run a marathon, anyone can.)

I’d rather walk it to be honest. . . better for my knee- and if I get myself to walking a 12-13 minute mile for the whole thing I can do it in 5.5 hours. . .

Charity - LOL. . . coitus would be tempting although the raising of money might cause some odd expectations. . .

I wanna run for The Histiocytosis Research Trust. Seven years ago I presented with LCH after a biopsy- After a million and one tests it looked like I am one of the lucky people that get it in one spot and then it just goes away- but it can be very bad for kids. Basically white blood cells go nuts and can attack bone, skin, organs. . . but it isn’t cancer.

Mel had the great idea of doing the Dublin marathon in October- which means it is perfect timing for me to get my ass moving!

jen Says:

You could do the Eastbourne one in October! It’s *gorgeous*, and while pure hell exceedingly difficult to run, I think it’d be a great one to walk!

I’ve got an entry form I can forward ya ;)

here you go http://www.visiteastbourne.com/marathon/

there’s a whole contingent of walkers who do it, and it’s well organised, with spectacular scenery.
