Week of April 28th Marathon Schedule
Posted on May 5, 2008 @ 9:35 am

I was bad again this week - not doing my smaller bursts and after my longer walk yesterday, my old bones are feeling it. I’m thinking I will need to add some yoga in to what I am doing. When I get back from the states in a couple of weeks I’m also adding in free weights.

My schedule was supposed to be:

Monday- Rest
Tuesday- 3 miles
Wednesday- 2 miles
Thursday- 3 miles
Friday- Cross Train
Saturday- 3 miles
Sunday- 4 miles

Total: 15 miles

What I did:

Monday- Rest
Tuesday- 2.5 miles
Wednesday- 2.4 miles
Thursday- 0
Friday- 1.6 (my drunken walk from Clapham Junction home. If I had to do it, I’m counting it in my mileage.
Saturday- 1.7 miles (leisurely walk along the south bank from Waterloo to London Bridge.
Sunday- 7.6 miles

Total: 15.8

I’m traveling the next two weeks so I will need to force myself into the hotel gym. I’m hoping that the treadmill will be the answer to the jet lag hell I often find myself in.

The best part about doing this besides my working toward a goal that I have wanted to achieve for ten years is that according to the scale, I’ve lost 4 pounds since April 21st.

woo hoo on the weight loss!

i do love treadmills (easier on the knees, and you can pull a television in front of your face to make the time go quicker!)

Are you timing yourself? How long are you hoping to complete the course in? Don’t feel pressured into making up for lost mileage by doubling the long walk at the end of the week. Feel pressured into getting the miles under your belt earlier in the week and adding 10% on the long one each weekend. If you over do it you’ll get injured and it’ll set you back even further…

You’re right, you’re right. . . I know you’re right.

Part of the problem is I enjoy doing the long walk so I really don’t want to stop.

I’m doing anywhere between a 14- 15 minute mile on average at the mo so I will need to increase my speed to at least a 13 minute average if I am going to win our bet. :)

That being said, I know a more reasonable time with my walking the entire thing is more like 6 hours.

I’m not stressing speed right now as much as form. Mid June my plan is start interval training to get me there.

I’ve been trying to convince Thomas to get a bike for month’s now. So we can ride together. She’s convinced she’ll crash :(

I think she’d look rather cool on a bike myself.
