This is said to be one of the “Great” rail journey’s of the world. Originally running between Cusco & Machu Picchu in Peru, South America, but for the last year or so, starting some 40 minutes from Cusco at the small village of Poroy. This is due to the length of the journey (4 hours, from Cusco, many tourists think this is too long in a train!!) This diesel service now takes approx 2 hours to complete the journey to the Lost City of the Inca’s. The train follows the river through the Urubamba valley for much of the journey. We travel through the 1000ft gorges, the mountain peaks are dusted with snow and on this Vistadome Express are made to feel like Inca Kings & Queens. At the new main station of Machu Picchu, ( the old one in the middle of the town is now used by back packers & locals only), is in the centre of the tourist hotel area, it allows rail fans, such as us, the benefits of seeing all of the trains from the comfort of our hotel. We have managed to film some scenes in the main street, plus within the new staion and also from our hotel balcony. For more info on our other productions, please log onto www.sprucestudios.com. Excelente video, parabéns!!

  28. Fine for the “cranks” amongst you. But I really would have liked to have seen more of the Machu Picchu ruins on the video other than the tiny little picture we got at one stage

  29. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST THING I EVER DID IN MY LIFE THE FOOD THE PEOPLE WERE PERFECT !!!!!positively must be on your bucket list

  30. JUST BEAUTIFUL

  31. Thanks for the video , brought back a lot of memories from my trip there in 2006

  32. No, the line was closed at the time, so we took the plane

  33. No, the line was closed at the time, so we took the plane

  34. Okay thank you so much! (-: I’ll remember to post my experiences. Did you also take the train to Puno in the south?

  35. There are 2 types of travel, Vistadome and Backpackers, Peru Rail only sell enough tickets for the seats on the train, so it is not over crowded, the tickets are usually relised 3-6 months in advance so try October time. As for the 2,500 visitors per day, you are correct, but the site is so big, even with that number of people the site doesnt seem crowded. Let us know how you get on

  36. Great video! :)

Did you book the tickets through the perurail website? And how crowded was the train?

I’m going in march 2013, but the darn website can’t find tickets for 2013. Also, did you book the Machu Picchu tickets online? I’ve heard they only let in 2500 persons a day. :)

  37. Tienes razon, pero sabes q en youtube cuelga videos el q quiere , asi q no t me piques, q esta bonito lo esta.

  38. Cool!

  39. I recommend you to do sports and eat food rich in iron before your trip.

  40. When I took this ride there was a giant rock on the tracks and we had to sit on the train for an hour. Good thing the view is nice and interior of the cars is very comfortable. Really an enjoyable trip despite the delay.

Gracias. Los saluda LEAFAR FAJARDO

  42. the one who disliked the video suffered from altitude sickness and had to cancel the trip when he was just on the foot of the mountain..

  43. @mellasone @earlofexeter thank you both for your advice! It is greatly appreciated. I hope to post videos of my experience on YouTube as well. I am still a bit nervous…I heard the busride to machu picchu is pretty dangerous, I’m also doing the wayna picchu hike…and that looks insanely dangerous lol. I’m sure it will be the experience of a lifetime. Cheers!

  44. For altitude sickness drink coca tea as soon as you get to Cuzco this will speed up your metabolism to adjust to the thin air, a couple of cups and you will be fine for the rest of your stay. I remember going from Cuzco’s airport straight to emergency as I couldn’t breathe, I was given coca tea and my breathing became almost normal very fast , after a second cup I was fine. You may not be affected, not everyone gets altitude sickness

  45. Great place, the train ride is good, but it is much better “way INCA” America certainly has great places!

  46. The trip is safe, please dont worry. We didn’t suffer from altitude sickness, as we were to busy looking at this truely wonderful site. The journey, once you have done it will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is a very special place. As you can see by the number of people that have viewed the film, peole love this and we here at spruce studios enjoyed making the film. It was in no way work LOL

  47. I’m going in august! How safe was the trip? I’m starting to get nervous lol. I’m not the biggest fan of heights especially if I’m standing on a ledge with no railing and going through altitude sickness. Any advice?

  48. There are different prizes. It depends on the class of the train and the time when the train leaves from Cusco or from Aguas calientes. The cheapest ticket in 2010 was about 43 U.S. $ for a tourist. The prize of 10 soles is the prize for peruvians only. Al foreigners have to pay the tourist prize.
